Women's Hybrid Bikes
What's a hybrid bike for women? How do you know if you'd enjoy riding one? The basic definition of this relatively new bicycle is a mash-up version of mountain, city, and touring bikes. Naturally, there are several versions of the hybrid. If you think you want to give one a try, take us up on our great return policy, customize a bike to your specifications, and then try it out on several of your typical rides.
When you're in the habit of taking your bike out when running errands or commuting on it to work, a heavy mountain bike is just too heavy. On the other hand, those powerful brakes, comfortable seating position, and sturdy fat tires are hard to pass up. The hybrid women's bikes mean you don't have to sacrifice the light frame of a city bike or the large wheels and power of a mountain bike. The hybrid is a combination of the best of these bike styles.
Why Everyone Loves Their Hybrids
One of the main reasons people choose hybrid bikes for women is their versatility. Take city streets to your favorite bike path, ride around until you're ready to head home, and then take a shortcut down a dirt road. The hybrid is well-suited to each of these environments and many others.
Another reason people love hybrids is access to all the special features. For example, stow your stuff in a bag on the rack behind the saddle. Add a mount or two for water bottles and put a bell on the front. Our bikes can be fitted with baby seats, beam lights, surfboard racks, basket liners, cup holders, mirrors, and phone holders.
If you aren't well-versed in bicycle construction, you may not really understand what makes your bike such a great option. They are nearly always built of aluminum to make them lightweight without sacrificing strength. Sometimes, frames are built from steel for durability during city riding, and others may be constructed of carbon fiber frames to make the bike really lightweight. If you have to carry your bike around for any length of time, this is a great option! Enjoy handbrakes and other controls right on the handlebars where you can access them easily while you are riding.
How To Choose Your Hybrid
As you read through our selection, think about how you plan to use your womens hybrid bike. Pay attention to wheel size, the type of suspension, the configuration of gears, the brakes, fenders, and racks. For example, if you just want to ride around town, you may only want one gear. If you like to take the family out for picnicking rides, a rack and some mud flaps are probably in order. Do you have a personal preference when it comes to brakes? If you love rim brakes, hydraulic disc, or mechanical disc brakes, be sure to look for them in the description.
Remember that additional gears make the bike heavier, so if you don't spend a lot of time heading up and down hills, stick to a lower number of gears. Many hybrids don't have suspension forks because they add extra weight If you plan to ride on rough terrain, however, a front suspension fork is a very good thing. You may find suspension useful on our women's beach cruiser bikes.
Of course, you'll also want to fill in your height and weight information to make sure you have the best possible fit. A well-fitting womens hybrid bike means you can ride comfortably without unnecessary aches and pains at the end of your ride.
All of our women’s bikes come nearly fully assembled. The last few steps are easy, however if you feel unsure about completing assembly, we offer a fully assembled delivery service available at checkout.
