Why You Should NOT Make Your E-Bike Faster Electric Bike Questions
Hey guys, Dustin here, CEO of sixthreezero. Today, we're going to answer the question, Is there a way to make your e-bike go faster? Stick around. All right. All right. So let's jump in. Is there a way to make your e-bike go faster? So with that said, we produce e-bikes here and there are laws around e-bikes. I can speak specifically to California. We have three classifications for on-road e-bikes. Off-road e-biking is a whole different animal where the regulations are different. I can't speak to those, but if you're riding on streets, sidewalks, pavement, California has three classes and there are limits to the speed, both if it's full throttle or pedal assist.

So to answer the question, is there a way to make your e-bike go faster? My suggestion to this answer is don't do it. There's a reason the bike is set up to go the speed it's supposed to go. In a lot of situations, the speed is regulated to preserve the motor and also to preserve the battery. If you start trying to make that bike go faster than what the factory have set it up to do, you're either going to drain that battery a lot quicker, or you're going to put a lot of unnecessary torque and work on the motor, which is ultimately going to make a die faster, or it may cause something to break during the ride, which is going to create a lot of safety concerns. So I advise completely against it. I don't want anyone to do that at home, to modify their bike to make it go faster.

Now, to answer the question, is there a way to make your e-bike go faster? This is on a case-by-case basis. There are regulators put on e-bikes to ensure that they stay within certain limits to either create safety around the bike or to adhere to laws. Now, just like a car, are there ways to make cars go faster? Yes, of course. So ultimately, are there ways to make e-bikes go faster? Yes. However, it's going to be on a case-by-case basis, on a motor by motor basis, and depending on if that motor is even capable of more. I can speak to sixthreezero and for our bikes and say, "Is there a way to make ours go faster safely? The answer is no." Our speeds on the motors and the battery sizes we use are regulated and they should not go any faster than what we suggest you should ride at.

If you do go above and beyond that, you're taking a whole other level of risk and it's not going to be safe. Now, there are other motors out there that the power is being limited and there's additional power that you can get out of it, but you shouldn't do that if you're going to be riding it on pavement, because again, there's laws and regulations. Now, if you're going to be riding it off-road, there may be an opportunity for you to find out about how it's being regulated with the display and the controller. There may be settings you can change. In some situations, the manufacturer may even set it to the lowest setting in the controller, but you could go in there and flip a couple of buttons and get it to go faster. Maybe they just set it on the lowest setting for safety, but you still do safely have the option to make the e-bike go faster.

So, so again, my suggestion, don't try to make your e-bike go faster if it's got limitations set by the manufacturer. If you absolutely have a more need for speed, don't modify an existing one. Buy a different e-bike or buy a motorcycle, buy something that is set up to go the speed that you want, because adjusting, modifying, or pushing the limit of something stock is going to create safety issues down the line. So I hope that helps. Hope that answers your question. If you have any other questions, please comment below or email us, theteam@sixthreezero.com or call us, 310-982-2877.
