So let's jump in right now. Why are electric bike speed limited? Now when electric bikes come out of the factory, there's a controller. There's an LCD dashboard. Within that, there's a program, and a lot of times the speeds are limited. What I mean by that is it's a control that has set it so the bike can't go in excess of a certain mile per hour. Now that's generally if you're just using the pedal assist. Well, obviously if you're using the pedal-assist or the full throttle. On our e-bikes, as an example, sometimes now, not on the 500 watts, but sometimes they'll come where you'll hit 17 miles an hour on the pedal assist, and boom, the motor kicks off. So the controller knows when you hit a certain speed limit to kick the motor off. Now that's only true in the 250 watts because we don't want the motor for the 250 watts going 17 miles an hour, because it'll actually be bad for that sized motor.

The other thing now is we limit on the full-throttle side for the 500. We're limiting the motor to 20 miles an hour. Now there are two reasons for that. One is because it's not good for that motor to be going over 20 miles an hour in full throttle for a long period of time. You're going to end up burning the motor out. So that's a manufacturer suggestion. That's a setting we leave.

Now, the other thing about that is the laws. Now the laws are really different from state to state. Some states require full registration of e-bikes as if they were scooters. Some cities, they're outlawed. It depends on where you live. Now, we've designed and set our bikes to be in accordance with California law so our bikes have a limiter for 20 miles an hour in full throttle. These are adjustable by you. You can go in and change the settings. We don't advertise this and we don't recommend it because we want our bikes to work in accordance with the law. But again, that's why electric bike speeds are limited. Number one, to preserve the motors. And number two, to make sure that they're operating within the laws in particular of California. But again, figure out what your local city, state laws are to make sure you're operating your e-bike in accordance with those.
