Hey guys, Dustin here, CEO of Sixthreezero. Today, we're going to talk about the top five reasons why you would buy an e-bike. Electric bikes are taking over, you're seeing them everywhere, and some people may be like, "Why would I get that?" Well, today we're going to talk about why. The other thing is they're super fun, so... That's outside of our reasons, but let's get into it.
These are not in any sort of particular hierarchical ranking, I'm just going to do it one through five, so the first reason why you want to bring stuff with you. So if you are going to take a surfboard with you to the beach, or you want to tow your kids, or you want to put a trailer on to tow things with you, maybe to the park or whatever else, an e-bike is a great option. In particular, if you don't need a lot of motor, but you just want some extra help, electric bikes literally make life so much easier. You could get a 250 watt, that would be enough, it's going to really lighten the load and make it much, much simpler to go wherever you need to go.
I personally go down to the beach, I have a surfboard rack, I'll put a surfboard on there, I'll also hook up a child trailer and I'll double that both for my children, or sometimes I'll just throw my beach stuff in there, and it makes it super, super easy. And I'll do pedal-assist sometimes, or full throttle, but I love having the e-bike for that.
The second reason why you would buy an e-bike, you want to go fast. So if you're a rider... Now, I'll say this too, if you're a really, really, really good rider cyclist and you can power that bike super powerful, chances are, you can actually ride a road bike faster than most e-bikes are even capable of going. They limit the speeds, and a lot of the motors have regulators to actually limit the motor capacity in accordance with the laws. In particular, in California, you can't have a pedal-assist bike go over 28 miles an hour.
So if you are a great cyclist, you may be able to power your road bike faster than an e-bike, but if you're a novice rider, a recreational rider, an e-bike can really let you go fast without exerting much effort at all. You can either use the pedal assist, or you can use the full throttle. As an example, on the Sixthreezero e-bikes, with the full-throttle 500 watts, you can hit 20 miles an hour, and on the pedal assist, you can hit 28 miles an hour, and you don't have to exert much energy at all. You can go fast, get the thrill of the ride, have the wind in your face. There's really nothing like it, super fun, just remember to wear a helmet. But again, you want to go fast, e-bikes are a great option.
The third reason why you'd get an e-bike, hills. Now, obviously, if you're out for exercise, you want to take on some hills, but there are some hills that unless you are a very proficient cyclist in super tip-top shape, there are some hills out there that are not even possible to ride a bike up, or it's going to require every bit of your energy just to get up that hill, maybe not leaving you with any additional energy for the rest of the trip, so an e-bike's going to be great, especially a smaller motor, maybe something a little bit lighter, 250 watts, if you just want to get some help up the hill, it's a great option. It can get you up the hill, then you can the motor off and just ride it normally, and just kind of use the motor as you see fit for the hills. So if you've got a ton of hills on your ride and you really don't want to burn your legs out on them, the e-bike is great for that. So third reason, hills.
The fourth reason, commuting. Now, if you're going to commute to work and you don't want to show up sweaty, you don't want your clothes to be ruined, an e-bike, again, a great option. You can let the motor do the work as needed. Maybe going there, you don't want to exert yourself and sweat, so you let the motor do the work, you have it set on pedal-assist or you use the throttle, but then coming home, maybe turn the motor off, and you could just pedal and get exercise on the way home. So, e-bikes, great for commuting, especially longer distances, which segues me into my fifth reason why you'd get an e-bike, you want to ride far.
Now again, what an e-bike does is it allows someone who maybe is not as trained or as skilled... Don't worry about that, we'll keep filming. There we go. Not as skilled or as proficient as a cyclist, so you can't ride 20, 30 miles. The benefit of an e-bike is it's going to allow you to go farther. You could ride 15, 20 miles out, maybe not use the motor, and when you're coming home, use the motor, or use the pedal assist the whole way. If you ride, let's say 40 miles, your legs are only going to feel like maybe you rode 10 miles or five miles, so it just really opens up the possibility of how far you can ride and how far you can go. That's one reason why I love e-bikes, it's really opened up the kind of ground I can cover on my e-bike, and it allows you to really potentially go 40, 50, 60 miles, without exerting the kind of effort you'd have to on a normal bicycle.
I'm going to give you one bonus reason why you'd ride an e-bike, that bonus reason is actually mountain biking. A big, big popular thing right now is electric bikes for mountain biking. What that's going to allow you to do is take the bike up using the motor, and come down under your own power. So whereas before maybe you would have to drive a car up to the top or take a chairlift, with an e-bike you can actually let the bike do the workup, and come back down under your own power. Super fun, makes it way less strenuous going up. Now, if you want the exercise, of course, you can pedal under your own power, but if you don't, let the bike do the work, and you can come down using gravity and enjoy the ride.
So, if you have any other additional questions or comments, or if you have some thoughts around why you'd buy an e-bike, please put them below.
