There are many types of bicycles on the market. This can make it tricky to find the one that is perfect for you. Finding the right bike all depends on how you wish to use it. At sixthreezero, we want to guide you in the right direction when it comes to purchasing the perfect cruiser for you. Below is a comparison of a 1-speed and a 3-speed bike.
Single-Speed Bike
A single speed bike, like our Around the Block cruiser , has only one gear ratio available to you. The pedals are the only things that propel the speed of the bike. They utilize horizontal dropouts or a chain tensioner to maintain the chain tension since there isn’t a derailleur on the front or back of the bike. Single-speed bikes are perfect for folks who enjoy a leisurely ride on flat surfaces.
3-Speed Bike
A multiple-speed bike, like our 3-speed Paisley is more complex than a single-speed cruiser. Using a spring-loaded arm, it keeps tension on the chain. A cable that is attached to the shifter pulls the derailleur arm away from or closer to the bike, which pulls the chain down or up the rear cassette or front chain rings. Three-speed bikes are great if you plan on riding on all sorts of terrain or hilly landscapes.
