Hey guys, Dustin here, CEO of sixthreezero. Today, I'm going to talk to you about electric bikes for big guys.
All right. So today we're going to talk about electric bikes for big guys. Now, I'd actually consider myself a big guy in some instances, and I can't tell you specifically what the word big guys means, and I don't want to put parameters on it, but I just know that there's a lot of questions and a lot of searching happening around the word electric bike for big guys. So I just want to talk a little bit about what kind of electric bike to look for. What are things you may need to upgrade if you are a "big guy", but again, that's a self-prescribed term. I don't know what people mean when they search for that. I just want to make sure I make that clear that I'm not labeling anyone a big guy. I'm just trying to be helpful for anyone that is searching for that term or writing us an email regarding that.
Now, one thing is on most standard bicycles and electric bikes as well, if it's sort of a standard electric bike that is like a bicycle, but with a motor more or less, there's going to be weight limits to the wheels and the seats, generally speaking. Now our electric bikes, we say have a 350-pound weight limit. There are things you can do to increase the weight limit. Also, that's a general rule of thumb. Usually, the frames are going to be able to hold because our frames, actually our aluminum frame is a 350-pound weight limit, but our steel frames could go higher than that. It's really the spokes on the rims, which is something that could be upgraded. You could add thicker gauge spokes. If that's a concern to you or something you might be interested in, please reach out to us. I'd be happy to help on that front.
The other thing is the seat. So a lot of times the springs may dip and there are solutions for that as well. There are aftermarket seats that can hold higher weights. The other thing around the big guy term is the height. So somebody who's 6'0, 6'2, maybe taller, we have our Every Journey actually can be used up to 6'7. If you look at our electric bike video, we call it the second wind electric bike video with the father and the son. That guy actually was 6'7 and he was tall and he was riding our electric e-bikes. So I would say that our Every Journey e-bike is a great electric bike for big guys.
Again, as it comes standard right now, weight limits are about 350, but there's upgrades or changes that could be made if that's something that you would need for your body type, but the wide sweeping handlebars and the adjustability and the forward peddling, that frame is going to really make it conducive for big guys. And if you're not familiar with that, the Every Journey actually has the pedals moved forward about five inches. And what that does is it gives the rider added leg extension, in addition to raising the seat, which makes the Every Journey electric great for big guys. So you get that additional five inches of leg extension that you wouldn't get on a typical bike because you're only going to be able to put the seat up and down to increase your leg extension. So huge advantage on the Every Journey e-bike.
The other thing is the wide-sweeping handlebars. If you have longer arms, you're going to be able to get a nice wide grip and not be cramped into the bike. So that makes riding it very, very easy. And we have many, many examples. So the Every Journey non-electric same frame, we've had many, many taller men love that frame for the specific engineering and the setup of that bike.
Now talking outside of sixthreezero, what should you look for in an electric bike? Now, some other things you could do, if you're talking about weight and going into the higher weight ranges, what to look for in an electric bike for a big guy. One is you could look for wheels that don't have spokes. Sometimes there are wheels that maybe have like plastic rims, kind of like maybe four rims. It's not a spoked wheel. Those are probably going to be conducive to holding a little more weight. Sometimes I've seen them on scooters. There are some electric bikes that have it, but they're not like traditional-looking electric bikes. They're more the smaller utility type electric bikes so to speak.
You also could look just for a higher spoke gauge. Some electric bikes may come with a higher spoke gauge, which is going to be obviously hold more weight. And then if you're really concerned, stick to a steel frame too. Steel is going to be much stronger than aluminum. Aluminum is a softer metal, so there'll be apt to be able to hold more weight on it. So I know that's just a brief synopsis and a description of what's the good electric bike for big guys. If you have specific questions about your body and things that you need, please comment below.
