DIY Peloton Bike Hack with Indoor Trainer
Hi, this is Alanna with sixthreezero, and this is the third video in our Indoor Trainer Bike Series. Today, we're going to show you how to set up your bike trainer so that you can use it with the Peloton app. So if you want to try out the Peloton app, but you don't have a Peloton, you can easily do the workouts with just your bike. All you need is a bike trainer, a cadence sensor, a heart rate monitor, and the app. So let's get started. So this is the cadence sensor we'll be using, and this is totally optional. And actually, it's only going to work if you're accessing the app from an iOS device, like your iPhone or the Apple TV. But it's really easy to set up and it will make the workout even more effective.

So with this cadence sensor, it pairs to your device via Bluetooth, and you just attach it to the crank arm of your bike. So right here. There are actually three ways to set it up. So that's the first option, attaching it to the crank arm with the sticker that it comes with. Another option is to use the holder that it comes with and attach it with zip ties. And lastly, you can just simply attach it to your shoe. Okay, so now that you have your sensor set up, you want to pair your heart rate monitor. In my case, it's the Apple Watch. So you simply go to the Peloton app, select more, and then Apple Watch, and set up. Hit done, and you're paired. So we're ready to start taking a class.

So let's get on the bike, go over to classes in the app, select cycling, and then just choose the workout that you want to do. I'm going to do a 20-minute feel-good ride with Ally. So select the workout, start, and then once it starts, you can make sure that your cadence sensor is connected. You just select connected devices, select the device you're trying to connect. In this case, it's the cadence sensor. All right, it's connected. Heart rate sensor is connected and now you can see both the heart rate and cadence on the app so you can follow along with the trainer.

So that's how you can use the Peloton app with just your regular bike, bike trainer, cadence sensor, and heart rate monitor. The only thing that's missing is the resistance, but that's something you'll just have to keep track of on your own. I hope you found this useful. Let me know if you try it out, how it works for you. And don't forget, it's your journey, your experience. Enjoy the ride.
