All right, so let's talk about where to buy an e-bike in 2021. As a lot of you may know, bicycles and other consumer products are going through a lot of shortages in 2021. There's a lot of global demand being placed on bicycle factories, which has actually created a great amount of shortage in bicycles in the U.S. because not only is the U.S. going through a mini bicycle boom, but other countries across the world are as well. So it can be challenging right now to buy an e-bike, whether it be locally or online. So, I'm going to give you a couple of quick tips on where to buy an e-bike and also how to buy an e-bike in the year 2021.
Now, the first thing I'll say is buying an electric bike online has become actually a very popular way of buying e-bikes for many reasons. One being, what I've found is a lot of the electric bike direct-to-consumer brands, including Sixthreezero, are able to give more accurate waiting lists around their inventory. When it's coming in and use specifically can be allocated to a particular bike when it arrives. The one thing if you're going to go with a non-brand website, meaning like Sixthreezero, we are the company selling direct-to-consumer. If you were to buy from someone, let's just say Dick's Sporting Goods or even a local bike shop that has a website, they won't have as much information about when they're getting their products, and putting you on a waitlist is going to be, sort of, more of an up in the air type thing because they're buying their products from the suppliers and they're getting their information passed down, sort of, second wind, if you will.
And so it's going to be more challenging if you have to pre-order or waitlist something. Now, if you're willing to buy whatever a local bike shop has on the floor in their inventory, definitely I would suggest doing that if you definitely want to get an e-bike sooner rather than later. Because of the fact that inventory is coming and going so fast, waiting may or may not be the best option if you want to buy from a local bike store. So buying from a local bike shop in 2021, it's a good option. I would just say buy what they have in stock. Don't get committed to a waiting list.
Now, buying online is another great option whether in stock or out of stock. If you do find a particular model you want for 2021 and it's available online, I would say pre-ordering is a good option because you can actually get yourself committed to their inventory, one that's actually coming in. And since it's the brand selling direct to consumer, they will know their inventory a lot better than stores, like I said, that are buying from suppliers, so that's a really great option.
Now with that said, the wait times and delays that are happening, a lot of it is unpredictable. But if you do place the pre-order, I can say with certainty when they come in, you'll of course be guaranteed the inventory. My gut feeling tells me with local shops that are buying from suppliers, it's going to be... I've heard of stories where the shop might order 10 bikes and they only get sent five because either the brand was shorted on the amount they got or other stores bought more, they oversold, situations like that. So it's really challenging for bike stores to get proper inventory right now. It's challenging for us as well. The information we get from the factories can sometimes change daily, but we always try to keep customers up to date as much as possible around that.
So what I would say is if you're looking to get something immediately, there are lots of websites out there for an electric bike these days. Sixthreezero has a lot of electric bike inventory as we speak. So you can feel free to browse ours on our website upon the electric bike category, but having it shipped directly to your house in '21 is a great option. And like I said, if you want to save yourself the hassle and the effort of going store, by store, by store, the beauty right now is, like I said, there're tons of electric bike companies, tons of electric bike websites. So if you shop around, do your due diligence, you'll be able to find something that's in stock, available now immediately, that can ship to you.
So, two thoughts, if you find something you really love get on a pre-order list if it's out of stock. I recommend pre-order lists with the brand directly on a website. If you're going to go to a local bike shop, buy what they have in inventory. I think that's going to be a safer bet with the local store buy. Or if you want something else right now, you don't find what you like in a store, even if they have stuff in stock, shop around, there are lots of websites. You'll be able to find something that can ship to you immediately I'm sure but buying an e-bike in 2021 little bit more challenging than other years. The same issue was in 2020. There's a limited amount of supply and shortage, so suggestion is to be flexible. If you want it this year, don't be married to the color you want and also have to make the decision, is it more important for you to have it now or more important for you to maybe have the color you like? And only you can answer that.
So certain things you'll have to contemplate in the current market we're in, unfortunately. So I hope that helps on where to buy a new bike in 2021.
