If people know nothing else of Los Angeles, they know the traffic is a nightmare. And this reputation didn’t just all out of the sky. It’s true. When you grow weary of sitting in your car for an hour to travel two miles, the prospect of cycling becomes more appealing. And while LA hasn’t always been thought of as bike-friendly, things are changing. With new trails and bike lanes opening on a regular basis, bikes in LA are no longer an anomaly.
Venice
There are miles of bikeable paths along the coast in LA county, and Venice is no exception. The Marvin Braude Bike Trail weaves right through this famous beachside community. A bike ride through Venice means sea breezes and the best people watching west of the Mississippi. If you want to venture inland a bit, you can count on Main Street to have bike lanes past some of the best shops and restaurants.
North Hollywood
This neighborhood may be known more for artistic expression than outdoor adventuring, but you can still enjoy it by the seat of your bicycle. You can get from North Hollywood to Burbank on the Chandler Bike Path. And that’s not the only popular route in this eclectic part of LA. The Lake Hollywood Reservoir and NOHO Arts District also provide a great opportunity to bike in LA.
Downtown
Downtown LA is already known as being pretty walkable, and it is also a good place to explore on two wheels. If you don’t have your own bicycle to bring downtown, you can always rent one by the hour from a local bike share program. Main and Spring Streets also have stellar protected bike lanes.
Long Beach
Long Beach isn’t technically in LA, but it’s right around the corner and considered a part of Greater Los Angeles. It also happens to be one of the most bike-friendly cities in the entire country. The Long Beach bike-share program is on track to offer more than 500 bikes across 50 locations. Plus, downtown Long Beach has a ton of protected bike lanes.
Studio City
The Zev Yaroslavsky LA River Greenway Trail is a relatively new addition to the Studio City community. This tree-lined path is surrounded by more than 3,000 native plants and riders are welcomed by a stunning metal gate. The half-mile portion of the trail is a part of the longer 51-mile trail hugging the Los Angeles River. Your journey may begin in Studio City, but it can take you far into the valley. Studio City also has bike paths along the Orange Line, away from public streets.
There is no shortage of what you can do from the seat of your LA bike. You’ll have access to beach views and Griffith Park vistas, new restaurants and art galleries. If you’re in the market for men’s cruiser bikes or women’s cruiser bikes for your new cycling lifestyle in Los Angeles, you’ve come to the right place. Sixthreezero has you covered.
