From the wildflowers to rivers, mountains and historic towns, Washington is considered to be a cyclist’s paradise by many in the cycling community. Hopping on a touring bike and exploring the great city and all it has to offer is something everyone should have on his or her cycling bucket list.

Interurban Trail Loop

One of the most gorgeous rides for a touring bike in North Seattle is the Interurban Trail Loop. This relatively flat 25-mile bike ride will take you on a journey through a secret pedestrian bridge, Lake Forest Park watershed and unique public art. The loop starts at Log Boom Park and heads south along the Burke-Gilman Trail. After crossing Bothell Way, head to Brookside Boulevard toward the west which turns into Northeast Perkins Way. Head right to 10th Avenue Northeast and then take a left on Northeast 195th Street. Take the bridge to Interurban Trail and continue south to Stone Avenue North. Once you hit Northeast 83rd Street, turn left and take the Green Lake circle around until you complete the loop.

Centennial Trail

Looking for a nice bike path for your family? Centennial Trail is a quiet, paved trail perfect for groups and young cyclists. Cycle through country roads and towns like Monroe, Sultan and Granite Falls along this trail. The 29-mile trail goes through the City of Snohomish along decommissioned rail lines toward north of Bryant. Experience the fun of exploring historic towns and learning about new communities along the way on your touring bike.

Seattle Urban Loop

This scenic 30-mile loop has everything you can think of to make a cycling loop an adventurous journey. Visit Magnolia to enjoy the views of Puget Sound, see Lake Washington, the Seattle waterfront and the University of Washington. The loop starts at Gas Works Park, from there you hop on the Burke-Gilman Trail then head west to Ballard’s Hiram M. Chittenden Locks. Bikes can be walked across the locks before the path continues to Discovery Park. Head south through the park to Magnolia Boulevard and follow the bluff around toward Myrtle Edwards Park. Hop on to Alaskan Way and enjoy the views along the Seattle waterfront. Follow the signs of the route toward the Interstate 90 trail. Arrive at Lake Washington and take the trail north to the University of Washington. After admiring the campus, get back on the Burke-Gilman Trail which will take you back to Gas Works Park.
