All right, so let's jump in and let's answer the question "Are electric bikes good for senior citizens?". The answer to this question, the short answer is yes. Now, there's a lot more to it than that. So electric bikes are actually a really good option for senior citizens because they can allow you to go so much farther than you've ridden before. And in addition to that, you can choose how much you want to exert or not exert yourself based on how much you want to let the motor assist you during your rides.

So the really cool thing is, let's say you get away, four or five miles from the house and you rode under your own power, then you can engage the motor, engage the throttle and have the motor help get you home. So the benefit to this is that you can go farther than you've ever gone. If you're having trouble riding or you can't go as far as you once used to go, now you can reach those distances again by using the motor. So it's really a great option and you can choose how much exertion you put into each ride.

So it's really about having that choice and not having to power your bike yourself if you don't want to, or if you just want a little assistance, it's a really great option. So, I think for this situation, if you're a senior or you're older, and maybe you can't ride as far as you used to, or you have fear around riding too far and being too tired to ride back on your own power, the electric bike is great because you can always have that to rely on should you need a little assistance. And this way you don't have to shorten your rides because of that fear.

Let's say you're scared to go a certain distance in the fear that you can't come back. Well, now if you have the motor as a backup and it's there to be used, you can push yourself to go a little farther, see more things, and also do more with your bike. I think that's another reason why electric bikes are good for senior citizens is because you can now do more with your bike. So if you weren't comfortable riding to do errands or it was too much effort, now the electric bike, you can get the bike out again and do those errands. Let the motor work for you, but if you want to use it as a normal bike, use it as a normal bike.

So there are so many benefits. Or commuting to work. If you have a short-range commute, you couldn't do it on a standard bike. Now you can do it on an E-Bike and pedal as you so choose. Now, the one thing I will add about electric bikes is because they do have power and they do have a motor, there are some more dangerous elements to them. Now, they're not dangerous, but there are things to be aware of when riding an electric bike. Number one, always, always, always wear a helmet when riding, especially if you're a senior citizen. Anybody in any age group should wear a helmet, but as we get older and our bodies get more frail, wearing a helmet is absolutely imperative. So to know with the electric bikes, there is a motor, there is power. So because you're not going to be powering the bike just yourself, at times, you're going to be using the motor, there's the added risk to going faster speeds, things like that.

So it's important if you so choose to get on an E-Bike, go the speeds that you're comfortable with, that you can balance at, that you can turn at and familiarize yourself to that with the bike, as much as possible before you get out on the open road or you're riding amongst other riders on paths and things like that. With an electric bike, again, because of the speeds that you can go more easily, it's very, very, very important to familiarize yourself with the product. Now, with motorcycles, it requires a certain license and training. Electric bikes, as of today, almost anybody can ride them and in most states, you don't need special licensing. So the one thing I'll say is if you are a senior citizen and getting into riding electric bikes, please, please, please familiarize yourself with the bike.

If you have balance issues, make sure you understand how to brake properly. Where's the break? How to use the throttle. And understand the different power levels that come with the pedal assist, so you can familiarize yourself with what kind of boosts are you going to get at level one, at level two, at level three, et cetera. So electric bikes are great for senior citizens, but it's very important to know how to properly use the product, train yourself, get comfortable with it, and only go in the areas that you know you're comfortable doing. There are accidents that have occurred out there, but I believe that it's just because of improper knowledge around how to use the product and familiarizing yourself with it. So don't go jump on it and just think you can do it right away. Take your time, work through it, be patient and make sure also if you haven't ridden a normal bike in a very long time, get comfortable again on a standard bike before you jump into electric bikes.

I think it would be very helpful. So short answer, I think electric bikes are great for senior citizens. You just have to make smart choices and also familiarize yourself with the product before doing it, but they offer so much you can do with them and it'll allow you to go places you probably couldn't go on your standard bike.
