Now the answer is yes and no. Obviously, any bike can be ridden by anybody. Any frame is really going to be suitable for a man or a woman. Doesn't really matter. Everything essentially is gender neutral.
Now, with that said, what I'm seeing in the e-bike category more than the standard bike category, is e-bikes really more and more are starting to be designed gender neutral, meaning most e-bike companies nowadays, you'll see, there's not really a men's and women's category. It's more just electric bikes. And now, with that said, the way I kind of look at e-bikes is there are two classifications. There's sort of electric bikes designed specifically for being an electric bike, but then there are also electric bikes that are designed more as traditional bikes with electric power, whether it's pedal-assist or a throttle. And what you're seeing is this new crop of electric bikes, while still bicycles, they mimic more of a motorcycle look, or a dirt bike look, where they're more not looking as much like a bicycle, but more a mode of transportation, a two-wheeled mode of transportation, whether it be a scooter, motorcycle, things like that.
And those are not really designed to have a size or be a woman or a man, it's just designed to be a mode of transportation, an electric bike. And it's one size fits all, kind of like a scooter or a motorcycle and you just get on and you ride. Now, obviously, motorcycles can even have different sizes. There are smaller bikes, larger bikes, but they're not really specifically for men and women, generally speaking. Now there probably are some motorcycles out there that are deemed specifically for men or women. But in reality, if you can sit on it if you can fit on it if your height is okay if your arm length is okay, it doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman, you can ride it.
So, in electric bikes, the same thing, there's a whole crop of electric bikes that fit into this category. A lot of 20-inch bikes out there that you'll see, it's only one size, one gender, things of that nature. Or now, you're seeing a lot of electric step-through bikes. And again, one frame, one design, a few color ways, but not deemed men or women. Now, on the other side, you're seeing some traditional bike companies. What they're doing is adding motors to traditional style bikes. And so they are deviating from men and women and they do have different sizes. So you're seeing... Just traditional bike companies typically have different sizes for men and women. And traditionally those sizes are some better for men and some better for women. So you are seeing that in the electric bike world as well. Now, it depends on what you're looking for, what you're trying to do with it.
If you're looking for an electric bike that's going to fit you like a standard bike, you probably want to find a company that still does sizes of the electric bike, designs the frames for a woman's body versus a men's body, because there are differences between men and women. So if you're looking for a bike to be fitted, an e-bike to be fitted like a traditional bike, those types of bikes do exist out there. So, to answer the question, there are e-bikes out there that are still deemed gender specific, whether for a man or a woman, but I'm seeing it less and less and I'm seeing more and more electric bikes just being designed as unisex, one size fits all with no gender identity at all. But again, it depends on what you're looking for, depending on what you want. So, make sure to do your research and look at all the options that are available.
